To mark the 250th Anniversary of our founder, Alexander Johnston (31 December 1774- 16 March 1864), we've created a covetable limited edition blanket. Referencing designs from the oldest pattern book in our archives, dating back to 1864 (the year of Alexander's passing), we've created a unique blanket based on our signature Gunclub. Made in-house in our Elgin mill, this heritage-enthused heirloom is crafted from our finest wool yarns.
Hogmanay, the Scots word for the final day of the year, is a time to enjoy the company of friends and family, holding fast together in the dark Scottish mid winter whilst reflecting on the old year and looking forward to the new. Our hometown in Elgin is an important part of the history of Hogmanay, with the first written record of the word in Scots coming from the local archives. So, it is apt that it is also the birth date of our founder, Alexander Johnston, an entrepreneur of the industrial revolution, who founded the mill that is still at the heart of our company today.
We're reviving the old-found ritual of gifting loved ones with coal with our Hogmanay Blanket to coorie (Scots for snuggle) under with loved ones. A modern interpretation of a classic archive check, it arrives in a charcoal melange, brown and rich red colourway to symbolise charcoal, whisky and fire.
Enjoy the embrace of our luxury wool blanket and cheer in the new year with a dram - Slàinte!
